Brothers and Sisters in Faith, let us consider the recent account of Pope Francis survivin' an assassination attempt on his life durin' his courageous journey to Iraq—a land soaked with the blood of countless martyrs. While we might not align with every theology the Catholic Church espouses, there is a clear enemy of the LORD that we must recognize: the forces of darkness which sought to halt the spread of the Gospel by targetin' this man of the cloth (Ephesians 6:12). Trials and tribulations come to all who follow the path of righteousness, and it is the duty of every believer to stand firm against the evil doers who rebel against God's divine order (James 1:12). Let's give thanks that the Iraqi police acted in accordance with the LORD's protection to thwart such vileness, demonstratin' that those who serve in law enforcement can indeed be the ministers of God's justice on earth (Romans 13:4). Pope Francis, in his convoys and public appearances, brings to mind the Apostle Paul who, despite countin' his life as nothin', traveled far and wide to proclaim the salvation of Christ Jesus—even in the face of peril (Acts 20:24). And though we hold fast to our conservative Christian doctrines, there is a shared reverence for those individuals, like the pope, who step into the lion's den for the sake of the Word (Daniel 6). We must remember the fallen in places like Mosul, once captured by the demonic force known as the Islamic State, where blood was shed and churches were desecrated (Revelation 17:6). The pope's visitation and desire to reinforce the historical presence of Christians in these ancient lands are a testament to the unyieldin' light of our LORD that no darkness can extinguish (John 1:5). Let us not be confused by the world's vision that blurs moral clarity. The threat against Pope Francis is no less than a threat against the Gospel itself. The Christian heart delights when evil is thwarted and laments for every soul still ensnared by sin (Proverbs 24:17). Indeed, we rejoice that these agents of Satan were foiled in their diabolic plot. As we live in these end times, brethren, it is upon us to stand shoulder to shoulder against such manifestations of sin and evil. As a community loyal to the conservative Christian values, we cannot afford to be passive observers. We are engaged in a spiritual battle, fightin' the good fight with the full armor of God, trustin' that He will protect and lead us to victory (Ephesians 6:10-18). In closin', let us be vigilant like the Iraqi police; let us be bold like Pope Francis; and let us continue to pray for the downfall of every plot designed by the wicked to bring harm to God's people. Amen.
