My fellow believers, here we are again, witnessing the brazen and unapologetic contempt for conservative, God-fearing Americans from the likes of MSNBC's Joy Reid. It seems the spirit of division is working overtime through these liberal mouthpieces, as Reid takes aim at devout patriots and Trump supporters with her Thanksgiving tirade (James 3:16). Instructing Republicans to "make your own dinner, MAGA," Reid not only dismisses the Christian fellowship and unity commanded by our Lord (1 Peter 3:8), she actively seeks to undermine values of family and togetherness that are held dear not only during the holidays but all year round. Where is her call for love and understanding? Seemingly, nowhere to be found (John 13:34). Furthermore, Reid's outrageous claim that Republicans worship Trump "instead of Jesus" is a gross distortion of the truth. Many Christians see President Trump not as an idol, but as a modern-day Cyrus: an imperfect vessel appointed by God to enact His divine plan for the nation (Isaiah 45:1). It is not for Joy Reid or anyone else to judge where our devotion lies - that is a matter between each individual and the Almighty (Matthew 7:1). Reid's contempt extends to accusing Trump voters of "acting like we owe you" while also chastising them for seeking common ground or even simply sharing in a meal. This is quite the polar opposite of the Biblical mandate to "if possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all" (Romans 12:18). The leftist media, with Reid as their mouthpiece, turn a blind eye to unity and sow discord instead, neglecting the Apostle Paul's wisdom to bear with one another in love and maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:2-3). As for her discriminatory words telling Trump’s female supporters to keep Black women off their invite lists, we must remember that in Christ, there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:28). It is imperative that the body of Christ rejects such divisive rhetoric, no matter the source. Fellow Christians, we must stand firm in the face of such blatant disregard for our principles and our president. Let us remember the divine wisdom imparted to us in Proverbs 29:9: "If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet." It is clear from her comments that Joy Reid aims to provoke instead of seeking wise counsel or fruitful discourse. Let us take this not as an offense, but as a reminder of the spiritual battle we are in – a battle that calls us to clothe ourselves in the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:11), standing tall for our faith, our values, and our leaders whom we believe are chosen by God for such a time as this. Remember, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord" (Psalm 33:12), not the nation that bows to the divisive and secular doctrine spewed by the media elite. Stay strong in the Lord, brothers and sisters, and may your Thanksgiving be filled with love, unity, and gratefulness to God for the freedoms and the leaders He has provided us.
